Meet Our Aromatherapist / Yogi / Founder

Jessica Lohrey was raised in a log cabin built by her father in the woods of rural Ohio. Her family lived a simple existence, growing most of their own food and living in harmony with the cycles of nature. Jessica spent her childhood exploring the forests, streams and fields around the Lohrey homestead creating bonds with the natural world that would last a lifetime.

As a teenager, Jessica worked with her mother's bulk herb and flower business selling essential oils. The family relied heavily on medicinal plants and folk remedies passed down from Cherokee roots. She later earned a B.S. degree in Zoology from Miami University. After graduating, Jessica worked in Nature Education/Wildlife Rehab and led Wilderness Survival classes with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Jessica began practicing yoga in the late 90's as a way to stay in shape and reduce stress. After a life-changing motorcycle accident, her physical and spiritual healing led her deeper into the practice. Over the last 17 years, Jessica has studied teachings from the Krishnamacharya, Sivananda, and Kripalu lineages of yoga. She is a Certified Yoga Therapist through the International Association of Yoga Therapists and is certified at the highest level as an E-RYT 500 with Yoga Alliance.

Jessica has been studying and using herbs, aromatherapy and other holistic healing modalities for more than 30 years. In 2007 Jessica created Tree of India, a yoga instruction and aromatherapy company. Spirituality and nature appreciation have been woven into Tree of India's culture and continue to be Jessica's source of inspiration.

Jessica has a never-ending desire to learn and grow…and to share her experience in service to others. Jessica specializes in yoga teacher training, mentorship, and using yoga as a therapeutic tool for maintaining physical and emotional balance in our busy modern society. She spends her time enjoying the best of both worlds in Fort Lauderdale, FL and Asheville, NC.

The yoga therapy components of Jessica's teaching are based on her credentials as a Certified Therapeutic Yoga Teacher by the Pranakriya School of Yoga Healing Arts, The Center for Integrative Yoga Studies and the International Association of Yoga Therapists, not derived from her status as an E-RYT 500 with Yoga Alliance Registry.
