  • Sandalwood has been a part of the spiritual traditions of India since prehistory and has been effectively used in Ayurveda for thousands of years. Due to the high demand and the fact that sandalwood trees in the wild have been over-harvested, the cost of 100% pure, unadulterated Indian sandalwood (Santalum album) essential oil is rising on average 25% per year.

     

    We have been unable to obtain sustainably-grown and harvested East Indian (Mysore) sandalwood for the last several years due to the fact that it is rare, expensive, and most often impure.

     

    Although our current supply is limited, we recently obtained this Indian sandalwood essential oil from a sustainable plantation in Australia. (NOTE: Although it was grown in Australia, this is indeed Santalum album, not to be confused with Santalum spicatum, another variety of sandalwood commonly known as Australian sandalwood.)

     

    We will continue to seek out the best quality oils from sources that are committed to the preservation of these precious trees. Take advantage while its here, and cherish every precious drop!
