Chakras are spinning "wheels" or vortices of energy originating in the ancient Vedic tradition dating back as far as 1500-500 BCE. They are part of what is known in modern yoga as the "subtle body" and they influence our spiritual, emotional, and physical expression of ourselves. Each chakra is associated with specific aspects of our being.

The throat chakra relates to our communication, self-expression and creativity.

Symptoms of an over-developed Throat Chakra include talking or saying too much, not listening well, being argumentative, acting like a know-it-all, being critical, having a chronic sore throat, and having an overactive thyroid.

 

Symptoms of an under-developed Throat Chakra include having trouble expressing oneself, having an inability to speak up, having lack of confidence in one’s own opinions, shyness, having an under-active thyroid, and asthma.

 

When the throat chakra is balanced, one has inner trust, inner reliance and easily expresses their ideas and thoughts. Someone with good balance will be expressive, eloquent, a great communicator and a good listener.
