“Stop the world I want to get off” is a feeling to which many of us can relate. At a time when we’ve become increasingly isolated in our own individual worlds, what is missing and needed is connection. We want connection to people, places, things…and to life itself.
Back in the “good old days” our lives were more connected. Our extended family was an important and influential part of our lives. Children grew up learning the traditional ways of life from their grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Connection to one’s culture was seen and felt in every part of life from the clothes one wore to the dishes from which they ate.
Welcome to the newly expanded Tree of India! In an effort to support global connection, we have made a conscious choice to incorporate high-quality, hand-made goods from India into our offerings. The unique nature and energy of the artisans can be felt in the items they make. Your purchases provide employment and keep alive traditional artisanal skills and techniques.
We celebrate quality over quantity, authentic products and experiences over mass-produced consumer goods. In a world of chain stores and diminishing choices, treat yourself to something unique and beautiful from our carefully curated selection of hand-made goods. May these treasures serve as a reminder of our connection as one human family.
This new branch of our tree grew out of our love of India’s creative traditions, an interest in social welfare, and a desire to remain connected to the homeland of the philosophy and spirituality that has lit our path for the last 20 years.
